Located in Singapore was no different with its showing signs of fatigue and aging as the interior became a dark dreary mess filled with unnecessary partitions. Transforming it into a bright and beautiful modern home Atelier M+A made sure that it was the perfect dwelling for a young family and their fast-paced urban lifestyle.
The dramatic 25-feet-high open living area on the lower level contains the living space dining room and kitchen with each area flowing into the next. Instead of completely shunning its past the converted church actually embraces its rich heritage with fabulous stained glass windows bringing pops of yellow red and green into each room.
With passive heating and cooling techniques incorporated into its design and top-notch insulation every attempt has been made to keep the carbon footprint of the ranch minimal – an absolute delight for those who have the planet’s best interest at heart!
The appliances in the kitchen and ergonomic island bring the ease of a contemporary lifestyle to the traditional setting and the bedrooms continue this theme with a fusion of modern elements like Roy Lichtenstein’s drawings with antique pieces and rare vintage accessories. Spa-style bathrooms an indoor swimming pool and other expansive spaces complement the style and theme of the remarkable one-of-a-kind mansion.
Designed by Boom Town every room inspires you with an array of vivacious colors exquisite textures and a snug ambiance that is never lost despite the creatively playful touches. Despite the refined makeover of the interior much of the original charm of the house from the late 1930s is preserved by leaving the exterior largely unchanged.
These were a few among many other challenges that Greenfield faced while designing the exclusive and eco-friendly home in that is dubbed. Nestled inside the exotic Maderas del Carmen the scenic landscape that surrounds the unique structure is home to rare and endangered species. Preserving this delicate natural environment while creating a cozy interior the creative was crafted using materials such as river rocks pine wood rammed earth and concrete!
The lower level of the home contains the public spaces including a modern kitchen and an elegant dining space while the top floor houses the bedrooms and bathrooms. Minimal but pleasing contemporary but with a hint of midcentury elegance and filled with an air of refinement this is a Chicago townhouse that breaks some of the misconceptions homeowners have when it comes to using calming neutral shades.
